Cloisonné Style Coins

Cloisonné coins are our very best mint class coin, and can be stamped out of  a wide variety of metals both common and precious. After the dies are made and the stamping is completed, the metal coin is plated in your choice of gold, silver, brass, copper or pewter and then individually polished to a high luster finish.  Next, a naturally colored glass mineral powder is used in each recessed area of the die stamped coin. Each color is then baked individually in a high temperature oven at over 1000°C.  This means that if you have 5 colors in your pin or coin, your coin will be 'baked' five times. The coin is then polished again on all surfaces so no epoxy clear coat is ever necessary. As a result any cloisonné style item, whether it be a pin, coin or metal plate will hold its luster and beauty for a lifetime.

The main advantage to a cloisonné style coin is the powder colors can be highly polished and will never fade or change. Cloisonné is our most beautiful but also our most expensive type of coin.  It uses our most expensive materials and takes the longest to manufacture.   Due to the manufacturing costs, the cloisonné style is mostly recommended for coins where only the highest quality and workmanship will do. Speak to your Moritz sales representative for any of our full range of coin manufacturing options.

Note: Prices start between $2.50 &  $3.85 each based on 200 Pcs. depending on your artwork, plating and finishing requirements, coin thickness and number of colors.

Die Stamped 'Imitation Cloisonné' Coins

In manufacturing a die struck or die stamped imitation cloisonné style coin, a sheet of soft copper is placed under a revolving press and struck with very high pressure that leaves an impression of your design deeply imbedded into the copper plate.  The coin is then plated in a finish of your choice and all the individual areas of the design are filled in with different colored resins and then baked in a high temperature kiln. All colors are baked during a single firing process, saving both time and money.

For added color brightness and durability a clear epoxy finish can be added to the top surface of your pin or coin and then re-baked again.  Normally there is a small added cost for the clear epoxy top coat finishing process. The additional expense is worthwhile as it protects the face colors of your Pin, Coin or Metal Plate indefinitely. This "imitation cloisonné' style" coin is moderately priced, often costing as little as half the price of a true cloisonné coin. It is one of our most commonly ordered coins.

Note: Prices start between $2.50 each &  $3.50 each based on 500 Pcs. depending on your artwork, plating and finishing requirements, coin thickness and number of colors.

Die Stamped Soft Enamel Finished Coins

In manufacturing a die struck or die stamped soft enamel coin , a sheet of brass is placed under a revolving press and struck with very high pressure, leaving an impression of your design deeply imbedded into the brass plate.  The coin is then plated to your specifications and all the individual areas of the design are filled in with different colors of high gloss enamel paint and then kiln fired. All colors are baked at the same time saving time and money.  For added color brightness and durability a clear epoxy finish is often added to the top surface of your coin and then re-fired.  The minimal cost increase of the epoxy coating is easily justified by the extra protection and durability it offers. Die struck soft enamel coins are moderately priced and a popular choice with our customers.

Note: Prices start between $1.75 each &  $2.50 each based on 500 Pcs. depending on your artwork, plating and finishing requirements, coin thickness and number of colors.

Minimum order 100 coins per design on all our styles above.
