Emblem & Patch Backings

Embroided Patch Backings

 

 

All of our embroidered patches are available with any of the following backing types. Choosing the correct backing for your patches is very important. Backings determine how the patch is worn or displayed and whether it is permanently affixed to your garment or easily removed for future use.

 

 

PVC Plastic

 

A plastic backing normally applied to emblems through heat and pressure for stabilization and sew-on purposes and comes automatically with ALL Moritz embroidered emblems.

 

Note: The example below is Boy Scout(R) Emblem with PVC Printed Backing. All other PVC Backed emblems are NOT Printed and look perfectly clear abnd smooth on the backs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heat Seal or Iron On

 

Heat sensitive backing that allows a patch to be ‘ironed on’ to a garment.

Peel & Stick

 

A special adhesive is applied to emblems with a wax paper protective back that can be pealed off and temporary adhered to garments. If desired, these “Peel & Stick” emblems can be heated and permanently applied to any garment.

Home Application Method

Take your household iron and set it to the cotton or high heat temperature setting.

  1. Lay the garment down flat and place a common bath towel or pillow case over the area of the garment where the emblem is to be attached. Place your heated iron on the towel or pillow case and press down firmly for 8 seconds in order to heat up the area of the garment where the emblems is to be attached.
  2. Place your iron on patch on the pre-heated garment area and put your towel or pillow case on top of the emblem and then press down firmly with your iron for another 8 to 10 seconds.
  3. Remove the iron and towel or pillow case and place the garment aside and allow it to fully cool before handling it.
     

Commercial Application Method - regular heat seal backings

  1. Heat garment emblem area to 350 - 400 degrees depending on garment type. 
  2. Place your emblem in heated area on garment. 
  3. Close your heat press at a temperature of 350 to 400 degrees with normal emblem to garment pressure for 8 to 10 seconds depending on the garment fabric type.
  4. Allow Emblem to cool normally on your garment and your emblem will be permanently applied.

Commercial Method -“Pressure Sensitive Backed" Placement Heat Seal” Emblems

  1. Heat garment emblem area to 350 - 400 degrees depending on garment type.
  2. Remove wax paper backing from emblem and apply emblem to heated area of garment.
  3. Close your heat press at a temperature of 350 to 400 degrees with normal emblem to garment pressure for 8 to 10 seconds depending on the garment fabric type.
  4. Allow emblem to cool normally on your garment and your emblem will be permanently applied.

 

 

Velcro or Hook and Loop Backs

 

The velcro “hook” fabric (the rough part) is die cut to the emblem’s shape and then sewn to the back of the emblem. Upon request the emblems are shipped with the die cut to emblem shape Velcro “loop” fabric (the soft fuzzy part) attached to the hook fabric. Available Velcro Colors, Black, White, OD Green, Desert Tan

 

 

 

 

Butterfly Clips

 

Gold or silver plated metal “butterfly tie tack & clips” are attached to the backs of the emblems for temporary clip on use.

 

 

Magnetic Backs

 

Vinyl covered magnetic backs are epoxied on the backs of emblems for temporary breast pocket or refrigerator magnetic advertising use.

 

The left side example below shows a folding vinyl breast pocket magnetic emblem holder that folds in half so the back half can be tucked neatly into the breast coat pocket and the front half will have your embnlem sewn or epoxyed to the vinyl surface.

 

 The right side example below shows a circular die cut vinyl magnetic film that is sewn or epoxyed to the back of our emblems to be used as embroidered refigerator magnets for advertising purposes. This magnet film can be die cut into any shape and the magnetic surface will adhear your emblems to any metal serface.

 

 

 

Emblem Braded Button Loops

 

A 3/4" wide braded button loop is sewn onto the top back of the emblem for attaching to a breast pocket button.
